How to Use Sand Wax for Candle Making
1. Prepare the materials
- Glass jars or heat-resistant containers.
- Candle wick (cotton or wooden).
- Sand wax (colored or plain white).
- Small spoon or funnel for pouring.
2. Steps to make a candle
- Place the wick: Fix the wick in the center of the jar (using glue dots or a wick sticker).
- Pour the sand wax: Gently pour the wax into the jar layer by layer. You can mix colors to create ombré or patterned effects.
- Decorate: Add colored sand wax, shells, dried flowers, or other heat-safe decorations.
- Finish: Make sure the wick is exposed about 0.2–0.4 inch (0.5–1 cm).
-
When lit, the flame will melt only the wax around the wick. After extinguishing, the remaining wax stays intact and can be reused.
3. Reuse
-
Once the wick burns out, simply replace it with a new one and refill with more sand wax if needed.
-
Any loose or leftover sand wax can be collected and reused.
How to Store Sand Wax
-
Keep dry: Sand wax can clump if exposed to humidity. Store it in an airtight container or zip bag in a dry place.
-
Avoid direct sunlight: Strong sunlight may fade the colors.
-
Keep away from heat sources: Do not store near stoves, ovens, or high-temperature areas.
-
Safety tips: Always place the candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface; keep away from flammable objects; do not burn for more than 3–4 hours continuously.
